Cryosurgery

Cryosurgery is a procedure that involves killing the cancer by freezing the cells using extremely cold temperatures with a small metal tool placed in the tumor. Liquid nitrogen is the most common type and is sprayed on or applied with a cotton applicator to freeze growths which then shrink and fall off.

About 80% women get infected with Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection life time.The virus that causes cervical Cancer. Today 2400 uterus are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year in Nepal & 1400 from the disease.

EARLY DETECTION SAVES LIFE

The following technologies are used for its treatment:
1. PAP smear
2. COLPOSCOPY
3. DIAGNOSTIC BIOPSY.

Pap Smear or Pap Test:
Screening procedure for cervical cancer. It tests for the presence of precancerous or cancerous cells on cervix.

Colposcopy:
It is a procedure to closely examine your cervix, vagina & vulva. Your doctor uses a special instrument called a colposcope.

Cervical biopsy:
Surgical procedure in which a small amount of tissue is removed from the cervix. Cervical biopsy is usually done after an abnormality has been found during routine pelvic examination or Pap smear.
